Read Chapter 4: In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flowers from Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, a phenomenal autobiographical graphic novel by American cartoonist Alison Bechdel.
In the 4th chapter of Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, Bechdel explores further into her dad’s and her own nature. Her dad always loved plants and flowers. He loved gardening. Alison believed that it had something to do with one of her dad’s favorite author, Albert Camus, who narrated about garden in one of his book. Alison herself never liked gardening.
Also in Chapter 4: In the Shadow of Young Girls, Bechdel digs into a thing that she and her dad shared: their interest in masculinity. Though they shared the same interest, Alison believed it might be for different reasons. It was her interest in masculinity that made her hate girly stuffs.
