Persepolis is a whole new outtake on a world that we know little about. It is the story of a girl named Marji, and her life growing up during the Iranian revolution. It is a funny with a child interpreting the events that are going on around her. She tries to understand the political unrest that is going on all around her. She doesn’t quite understand it, and tends to believe whatever she has been told, and then going on to relay that to her parents. The book tries to show that not all of Iran is what it is broadcast-ed to be on the news. I agree that most certainly not all Iranians are the way that they are shown to be, but there are definitely some that are this way. But you still shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Just because they live there doesn’t mean they fit the stereotype. I liked the book, and I thought the author did a good job of conveying the intended purpose. While it wasn’t a formal book it was a overall success. I would recommend this book to others, it’s an easy read that gives a whole new perspective of the people of Iran. People who enjoy comics, and a new outlook would like this book.
